Founder

David Gouveia, OTR/L is the founder of TLC Kids Therapy. He received his Master’s Degree in occupational therapy from Mercy College in February 2001. David also has a Master’s Degree in health science and a Bachelor’s Degree in business economics. David has dedicated himself to working in pediatric occupational therapy. He is committed to helping children and gaining extensive experience by immersing himself in a variety of settings.

David has more than 17 years of experience providing children of all ages with the best specialized treatment for a variety of issues such as sensory integration difficulties, handwriting problems, fine motor delays, visual motor/perceptual difficulties, and various other challenges.

David is currently the CEO of TLC Kids Therapy, which provides pediatric occupational therapy services within special education and customary school settings as well as home care settings. The Firm services New York City and surrounding areas including Long Island.

David has performed home and school based screenings, consultations, and evaluations at TLC Kids Therapy and also completed relevant documentation for state, agency, and school requirements. David has developed various treatment plans and completed individual as well as group treatment sessions for elementary, middle, and high school children in various New York school districts. During his extensive career, David has communicated and collaborated with parents, teachers, and professional staff to come up with the most effective therapy programs.

David is passionate and committed to his work, entering each session with devotion, enthusiasm and focus. He strongly feels that coordination with parents and caregivers is important, because their involvement and support in the treatment process optimizes a child’s success.

My favorite part of the job is seeing a child’s face light up when they discover that they can do something new…It is so special to be a part of that development!
